The Difference between a "crypto" and a "a business powered by crypto".
The next generation of cryptocurrency is here - and it's not memes. It's business.
If you know anything about cryptocurrency, you know that there is a very wide variety of coins. On one hand you have Bitcoin which is disrupting monetary systems, removing the need for financial middleman and ultimately becoming the store of value for the future. And on the other hand, you have a passionate culture rising waving the flags of coins like Doge - who want freedom and want to have fun.
It’s this dichotomy that makes crypto fun and super interesting. How can the invention of blockchain (the tech behind all this) - create such a wide range of powerful ideas?
Well, just think of it as a “new” Internet - but instead of content - crypto is focused on transmitting assets and value. Anytime you combine passion and tech - expect something magnificent.
Business Powered by Crypto
I truly believe this transformation of crypto and blockchain powering real businesses is the next big thing. Today, most of crypto is focused on decentralized finance apps or simply building communities around “memes” or other social constructs.
I have nothing against any coin or token. I think they all have their reasons for existing. But when you truly ask the hard questions like “What does it do?” - “How does it improve my life?” - “What’s its purpose?” - you usually get no answer.
This is why I think Businesses powered by crypto will change the World. When you combine a clear mission with the power of blockchain and decentralization - it’s practically unbeatable.
I realize this is a somewhat wild claim, but let me break it down and I will let you come to the conclusion on your own.
Reason 1: People win.
The primary reason I believe businesses powered by crypto will win, is because it gives them the ability to include people and reward people in a much bigger sense than the old “5% cash back” or “punch off 10 visits and get a free sandwich”.
I am talk BIG rewards. It allows the customers, vendors, partners, employees all participate in owning the coin, which in turn creates a stronger community. Isn’t that what crypto is all about - Building strong communities?
Once you win the masses, there is nothing stopping you. In order to do that - you can’t be a monolithic corporation with no soul. You need to embrace a completely different mindset (and mindset that doesn’t typically embrace profit and loss).
Reason 2: Breaks up Monopolies
Monopolies suck. We may not all realize it - but every year the world becomes more monopolized by companies like Google, Facebook, Apple, etc. They are eating up all the marketshare, putting small businesses out of business and all the while selling our data to do it. And then they have the gaul to turn around and sell it back to us.
How do you beat them? You can’t copy them because they will either crush you or buy you and then crush you. You need to create a new world order, where their business model fails. This is where crypto brings the necessary pieces to the puzzle. By creating a decentralized solution for what these monopolies offer - will put them out of business. Maybe not in 1 year or even 10 years - but eventually - they will not be able to rake in billions of profits off their product —— which is you by the way. You’re the product.
Reason 3: Decentralization always wins.
The Internet is the most amazing invention of my lifetime, and probably all lifetimes. Although it certainly has its negatives - the ability to connect everyone in the world and share content - outweighs the stuff that sucks. The reason why it has dominated our lives and changed everything is because no one single person runs it. It is decentralized. Do you remember AOL? Enough said.
Which brings me to my point. A business powered by crypto embracing decentralization is the most exciting venture I have been involved in since starting my first Internet business in 1994. It’s exciting because it truly has the potential to change the world (even if in a small way). This is the difference between all other cryptos and the ones that have purpose. Without utility, you are just code. And code doesn’t move people. Purpose does.
This is why we created DOOR. We hope we can play a small role in building a better world.
